About Mickey Scantlebury

Born at four o'clock in the morning, and I don't remember much about that. But after I started talking I was told I was living in Bristol, UK, in the South West of England, and close to Cornwall, where most of my ancestors come from. After some exploring to the east coast, (and writing my first novel), I moved on up to Manchester, where the wool comes from, and started making manuscripts, some on paper and some in book form. Many of them grew up and left home, which is where Smashwords comes in.

Secret Garden - the song
'Secret Garden' isn't just a book, it's also the name of an event, or series of events, that happened in Salford in June 2012. Many of these activities feature in the novel, but just in case you want more of a feel for the whole thing, here's the song that Jane Wood wrote, performed by The Jane and Mike Band, ( 'Mike' is the author, Mike Scantlebury. Looks craggy, doesn't he?)

Writing the Secret Garden book
Mike Scantlebury is the author, but he was paid to organise a series of workshops during The Secret Garden Festival in Salford during June 2012. He met with people from the area, and got them to contribute ideas, characters and situations, and many of them now appear in the finished novel. He also made sure that he mentioned in the book many of the dozens of other Festival activities going on.

Buzz the Dog's Secret Garden
Buzz the Dog, star of many films on Youtube and Vimeo, takes some time off from his busy film-making schedule to look for Salford's 'Secret Garden', which was celebrated in song, words and pictures in 2012, next to MediaCity and Salford Quays. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be accessible in any of Buzz's usual haunts and he has to retire back to his kennel, for a lie down and a good lick.
