About Rick Hosking

Rick passed away in 2017 from lung cancer. My name is Jane and I am Rick's sister. When he was ill and asked by a friend about his "bucket list", he replied that he didn't have one, He had done all he wanted. I am continuing his site as I think his story is one that would be of interest to many. I hope you enjoy his story.

What an interesting, bohemian life this author has - living on the edge at times. I'm surprised he has lived to tell the tale ! This book was worth reading...

Great easy read, amazing this bloke survived. At times funny and very interesting especially because of what's going on in Afghanistan at the moment. Made you almost want to be with him on his trek. Good read for those wanting to travel without the hassle of tourist guides and travel companies. Kate Roth

Few travel books are as honest as this. It demonstrates the foolishness and selfishness of young men while allowing the author's empathy and humanity to shine through. This is travel in the real sense...no luxury, no 'trip advisor' no protectors,no tour guides, just a man with an overwhelming desire to experience life as far away from Australian middle class life as he could get.
