Darin Michael Shaw is the world’s foremost expert on the conjunction but. He has written a bunch of blurbs, once maintained a huge blog, and spoke to gatherings of mostly wonderful folks every Sunday for more than twenty years. Today he is an in-demand freelance writer and ghost. His proudest accomplishments to date are that he married far above his head, and has managed to produce four wonderful daughters, with a little help from his wife Shari. Darin lives with his wife, daughters, and the world’s most adorable Cocker Spaniel Mali-Boo. They all drive Fords … but the dog.

I really enjoyed reading this book by Darin Michael Shaw, and would recommend it as a first class way to spend some time.
Darin has what I would call a 'conversationalist' way of writing. Rather than heading into a classroom and listening to a lecture, or pulling out a notebook and getting ready to do a study, it is much more like sitting down and talking to someone about their relationship with a best friend; and it becomes clear that Darin knows the Friend he is talking about.
In a very easy style, using the occurrences of the word 'but', Darin talks about what the book of Matthew tells us about the life of Jesus. But a point that I really like is the extra bit of punch the author puts into his little challenges at the end of each chapter. Not content with just talking about Jesus, Darin goes the extra mile and attempts to lead us all into a closer relationship with Him.
I found Darin's sense of humor, overall, to be excellent and it helped make the flow very smooth and enjoyable.
Definitely a strong recommendation from me.

A wonderful read. Darin Shaw uses the word 'but' to show us a new way to learn about Jesus Christ. The humor and personal experiences involved in the text make it fun. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about Jesus, the Bible, or Christianity in general. Big Buts of the Bible: A Revealing Look at Jesus Christ taught me a new and interesting way to read my Bible.

Great Book! I would recommend it to everyone. The author connected the dots in a way that I have never heard before. He made things very logical and used stories and comparisons to make things very clear and easily understood. I very much enjoyed that I did not need a dictionary of religious terms to understand this book. A down to earth, eye opening book. I can't wait until he writes his next. In the mean time, I will be reading this one more than once as I believe it will improve my walk with Christ.
