Author Bethany Lopez has a knack for capturing the voice of today's young adults. I enjoyed her "Stories About Melissa" series and was excited to learn about her new "Friends and Lovers" trilogy. We've all had experiences growing up where people and situations weren't what we thought/hoped they would be. The author vividly brings these (sometimes awkward) circumstances to life for her characters and the reader. I look forward to the next book in the series!

Briana and Colin are in love. Colin's just graduated from high school and Briana has a year left when out of nowhere Colin breaks up with Briana before going to college. Briana is heartbroken. Fast forward four years, and Colin's back in town after a football injury ends his budding career. Briana is over her heartbreak and has since moved on, or has she?
I like the idea of estranged lovers reuniting, so I was really excited after reading the blurb and the snippets of the book that were posted on different blogs. And while I like the story, I didn't necessarily enjoy the way it progressed. SPOILER: Briana doesn't ask Colin why he dumped her the way he did before or after they get back together. And that bothered me. END OF SPOILER. I did enjoy the peek at the next book in this trilogy. I can't wait to read about Kent and Nicole!

Super cute and very light. If you would like to take a break from the melodramatic, Make it Last is perfect! While the blurb promises drama, the main characters get to it pretty quickly so I wasn't as emotionally involved as I might have been but that's a good thing! I didn't want to read a downer (too many of those lately) so I was pleasantly surprised to find just what I needed. Short read but there is more to come so i'm looking forward to the rest of the trilogy and getting to know the other characters and their stories. ^.^ Good one to pick up!
