This is a lovely story. The location - Tyneside, in north east England - is one I know well and the author brings it vividly to life. The descriptions of the paintings done by one of the characters are also detailed and enchanting. The psychology of the 'heroes' and of addiction is deftly explored and the plot is gripping. This is an m/m romance but it is so much more. The characters really live, and engage our sympathy, and there is so much of interest surrounding the events that the reader feels part of the scene, and the sex, whilst erotic, never overshadows the story. Recommended.
