About Pat McGowan

Pat lives as a writer in the southern suburbs of Sydney Australia. He used to work for the government which took him on postings to many places around the world, including in Europe, Asia and Africa. He loves reading contemporary American fiction such as Pynchon and Morrison. That's between his efforts to discover and read Australian writers who are growing in numbers at a rapid rate. His friend Julie argues that Australians write with a distinct perspective on the world, she reckons she can recognise an Australian writer every time. So place and language are important in Pat's writing, as is the opportunity to explore significant contemporary themes with the intention of leading us to see our world with fresh eyes, which can often be uplifting.
