Kilmore was raised in bucolic Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, born the youngest of nine to attractive, intelligent, hard-working parents who encouraged independence (either that or they were just to busy to notice what she was up to). Brought up in a large victorian home in the center of a small town, her early years were characterized by a strange amalgam of good humor and dark secrets.
In her attic bedroom shared with her sisters, Kilmore listened to an eleven-year-old quote Shakespeare and encyclopedias, watched a twelve-year-old dive head first into every book she could find, heard a sixteen-year old spinning Simon and Garfunkle tunes while writing in her diary about boys with names like Gordy and Rob, and answered the siren's call when a fourteen-year-old invited her along to climb trees, sneak uninvited into the locked high school on weekends or run the forbidden gamut of guards at the paper mill where stacks of giant rolls of pulp-wet paper made them feel like lilliputians lost in Gulliver's bathroom cabinet.
In high school, being devoid of the useful social skills possessed by her peers, Kilmore retreated into a world of fantasy which she hopes to, at this stage of the game, parlay into a viable income to save face.
Kilmore deepened her addiction to fantasy -- paying for the priviledge by pursuing a degree in Theatre Performance in college. She then wisely put her acting skills to use by becoming a police officer, instead.
Meeting the man of her dreams just when she had alternate plans, Kilmore went on to have a parcel of children of her own, some of whom were brought up in a large victorian home in the center of a small town in a family characterized by a strange amalgam of good humor and dark secrets.
Today Kilmore resides on a bucolic, sequestered 27-acre mountainside farm amid the hidden hills of Pennsylvania where she enjoys her horses, goats, cats, dogs, the wildlife, her husband and her children -- although not necessarily in that order.
She was a volunteer firefighter for more than twenty years, enjoys hiking, biking, picking at a guitar from time to time, and -- oh, yeah -- writing fantasy novels.
She hopes you'll drop by her facebook page and say hello.
Under another pseudonym, Ms. Kilmore has been published by GRIT Magazine, Lynx Eye Literary Magazine, Tyrannosaurus Press (the SF & F anthology Beacons of Tomorrow & the Illuminata webzine), Skinner House Books (Coming of Age), Sun Rising Poetry Press (Cosmic Brownies) and Literary Mama (Readings for the Maternally Inclined).
Kilmore's writing appears in collections that include authors such as Maya Angelou and Ralph Waldo Emerson.
One of her articles on how writers can improve their work has been distributed at writers conferances both in the US and Australia (and probably elsewhere, since few bother to obtain permission first).
Kilmore earned a degree in Theatre Perfomance from Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA. She also studied at Lycee Claude Monet in Le Havre, France, at Mansfield State University (PA), at the University of Colorado at Boulder (Semester at Sea Program aboard the SS Universe), and at Allegheny Community College and Point Park College, both in Pittsburgh, PA.
A former police officer, Kilmore graduated at the top of her police academy class, earning expert marksmanship status. A volunteer firefighter for over 20 years, she twice joined federal crews battling wildland blazes in Florida, Utah and Idaho.
