Merganser “Merk” McNeap tries to lift a wallet to get money owed to him but grabs the one of Big Momma Turnyipp, a witch-in-training, instead. She curses whoever stole her wallet that it will stick to his hand - and it does. He soon learns the many things that he can’t do with that thick item attached, that nothing he tries in order to dislodge it does that, and that he must keep his hand-plus-unusual-appendage out of sight to avoid awkward questions. He finds a way to control when specific items will attach to him and how to release them but not how to end the curse and keep things from sticking to him to start with. He is told that probably only the person who cursed him can release him from the curse so he must try to get her to release him and to keep her safe until she does that. Three Asian men plan to kidnap Big Momma to force her son to admit he is using their stolen secret recipies to compete with their business so Merk goes to her defense although she isn’t cooperative since she doesn’t think she is in any danger. When Merk ends up in the Asian’s cloth sack instead of the woman they thought they had in there he must act as mediator between the son and his bodyguards, the woman who stole the Asians’ secret recipes and sold them to the son, Big Momma, and the Asian men before people get seriously hurt.
