New Zealand: Bit by Bit

Rated 4.67/5 based on 3 reviews
The story of one woman's ride, horseback, the length of New Zealand, accompanied by a small dog. The easy to read text captures the amazing scenery, Nature at its best, the warmth and friendliness of the people... and the funny tricks that the horses played on Jacqui. A great read for anyone contemplating visiting the country - you get a really good look at the country from the back of a horse. More

Jacqui's equine companions caught my eye as well as the long distance travel she has been doing. I am almost finished Bit by Bit and am enjoying it thoroughly! It has encompassed humour, geography, geology, biology among a myriad of other subjects! Jacqui sure has a talent for picking out the best descriptions of places, people and animals; what they are doing; where they are going; and where they came from! I feel that I have a whole bunch of new friends in NZ and if I ever get to visit, I will be more than welcomed! Thanks Jacqui for a wonderful record of your travels - love your horses - I've done over 5,000 competitive miles on my two horses but I sure admire your strength and courage to do what you did! Thanks Again!

I love travel books and essays and this one is great. I've read books about walking trips and bicycle trips and sailing trips but never about traveling on horseback. Jacquie writes with humor and attention to detail that kept me interested. The descriptions of the country are wonderful and the people she meets along the way are portrayed with affection.

I am thoroughly enjoying this book. Well written, amusing and giving a good knowledge of the country. I am looking forward to reading further once my visitors have left and I have more free time.
