Kazzil awakens, tied to a bed, drugged by a dishonest taverner. He chose the wrong night to drug and capture her. She had been cursed as a werewolf (and used as an assassin); and tonight was the night she changed form.
As Kazziil struggles to find the person who cursed her and destroyed her life, she is helped by a police detective and a mage's apprentice, one seeking the answers to the killings, the other seeking to help one bound against her will. Complicating matters is that her nation has forgotten much of the old magical knowledge. Her curse is supposed to be impossible
