This story is very similar to ‘Bad Moon’ the author’s earlier book, but this time the characters face some very different problems.
The man they call ‘Simple’, is mentally deficient and has a bad stammer. The life he has to endure at the hands of his family, forces his younger half-sister to defend him.
Not an easy thing for a child to do, as Simple is a giant of a man with the mind of a child. I loved the resourceful way she stubbornly tries to help him against some overwhelming odds.

A very interesting and thoughtful story, not quite as violent as ‘Bad Moon’, but a very good read nonetheless.

This is an a superb story and difficult to put down. It is written in simple, but clever, language as told by a young, uneducated backwoods girl who is wise beyond her years. She is caught somewhere between terror and love for her family and their way of life. I truly enjoyed this book.

I was having trouble getting my books to download, so I just kind of picked this one to see if it would work. It did and once I started to read it, I couldn't put it down!So many of the free books on this site are so good and this was certainly one of them.

That was a great story, I wasn't sure about reading this after I read Bad Moon Rising. I think you should read this one 1st then the other book. Great read on both books. Just freaked me out alittle.
