Will Hallam – Hop 2 Mercury is a space based adventure for Will, his best friend Amy and her wise-beyond-his-years English sheep dog, Pat. Their story is written in a way that the reader feels as if they are on the adventure (and they’ll learn a few things about space too)! The Will Hallam series encourages kids to experience adventure visiting the unknown fearlessly.
Blasted into space on a shampoo bottle Will, Pat and Amy find they have extra strength through simple items they have with them like a dog collar, a wrist band and a head band that are transformed into items with extraordinary powers. They cross paths with gas emanating planets, have a snowball fight with snow people that return fire and meet a whole new colony of living beings while learning to survive on the Fountain of Fused Flavoured Bubbles. Will’s magnifying glass could prove to be the ultimate key to unlocking mysteries but let’s not take anything from our main characters, they themselves are extremely resourceful… a little bit of ‘MacGyver’ in each of them!
Author, Tracey Dickson, is passionate about kids enjoying themselves through playing outdoor games, laughing and of course escaping reality through reading. Always the family baby sitter Tracey’s greatest joy is teaching kids about current affairs and random facts.
The Will Hallam series is dedicated to Tracey’s brother Will, who lived every day as if it were an adventure, but ultimately lost in his valiant battle with cancer. His style of speech shapes most of the banter between characters in the book, he was known for his “useless bits of information” and his love for the unusual. He provided joy to many through his amazing ability to dance and maintained his sense of humour and love of life until his final days.
From her darkest moment came her greatest joy, writing the story of Will Hallam. So grab a copy and read it out loud to your kids, you won’t want to miss the story!
Sometimes bright lights come from the darkest places.

This is a great book about two really good friends Will and Amy, who get transported into space with their dog. Who can talk!
I like this story because even though Will and Amy were sometimes scared during their adventure, they always help each other out and find out they can do pretty much anything.
It is a great story full of battles and fun things like yummy bubbles.
