About Russ Mead

Russ Mead is the Shared Earth Foundation Visiting Professor at Lewis & Clark Law School. Russ teaches in the JD program and the Animal Law LLM program. Russ is a frequent speaker and guest lecturer at animal law conferences and law schools, including Cornell, Stanford, and Vanderbilt. Previously, he served as General Counsel for Best Friends Animal Society. He was the General Counsel and interim Executive Director of Farm Sanctuary. Russ holds a BS in Accounting from Arizona State University, an MBA from Lindenwood College, and a JD from St. Louis University School of Law, and earned a CPA license. Russ is the author of the textbook, “Nonprofit Animal Law’. He lives with his wife Laura on the Oregon Coast. In his spare time, he attempts to capture the spirit of animals in ink wash paintings.
