The mind being computer-like may seem far-fetched to some. In these few chapters, I will show you how I changed the course of my life and
found love, health, happiness, and financial success.
The very idea of self-help mind control may seem difficult. However, consider the alternative; living an out-of-control life, or even following another's concept of how you should live your life. More
Millions of people worldwide seek help each year in an effort to cope with their mental and emotional problems. These are the surface statistics. Countless others attempt to resolve their problems through TM, EST, movements, courses, and a host of popular psychology books that pour off the presses. If the results are so beneficial, why is it that the very same students hop from course to course and book to book, always seeking a new resolution to their problems?
The result is that only the symptoms are being treated, not the illness. There is discussion, soul searching, traumatic jolting—everything other than a remedy for the root of the problem. Pastry chefs of the emotions provide resolutions that are superficial frosting; blue for one set, yellow for another. That does not change the cake. Just as the cake is faulty because it has been baked to the formula of the old existing realities, just so, will the problems remain and multiply.
You might temporarily alleviate the symptoms of a toothache, but you will soon seek to treat the source of the pain. If a cake tastes metallic because the recipe calls for iron filings, the mistake is not repeated, nor the recipe doctored. New ingredients are found. If one is manufacturing a tire that consistently results in imperfections, the imperfections are not patched.
If thoughts, behavior, and emotions are snagging the weave of life, should a resolution be found in a manner less logical? The only acceptable solution is to treat the source, not to alter the surface symptoms. That source is the mind. The mind is governed by what it believes to be true, and so it follows that, if or when, you want to control your mind, you begin by changing what you believe!
