I thoroughly enjoyed descriptions of beautiful Pacific N W locales! I lived in Oregon for many years and my husband is from Eastern Oregon, so it was like "going home". I also enjoyed the story. I found it to be well-written. My only "nit"...and it is a small one...is that I was occasionally "grossed out" by some of the descriptions. It was as if the writer sometimes couldn't curb his inner child. That said, I would definitely recommend it!

A great murder mystery has you guessing until the very end, and this book did not disappoint. Homicide on the Half Shell is an engaging, well written novel that takes place in one of the Pacific Northwest's most beautiful settings. The author does a terrific job of building suspense while developing the characters. Halfway through the book, it was impossible to put down. The recipes scattered throughout the book were a nice touch as well. I'm looking forward to Graham Spencer's next adventure!

Review by: Mellani Calvin on March 3, 2013 :
It is apparent that these Northwest authors have a love of nature and the scenic beauty of the region. The settings were beautifully described. This same thing attracted me to Tony Hillerman novels. Character development is such that the protaganist in this book experiences his first taste of intrigue and interest a murder mystery naturally gives us all. I liked it as a light-hearted read and would buy subsequent books.
