I work for the paranorm governing body, otherwise known as the Grand Collective. I have lived within their midst my entire life. I am not like them though, I am just human.

My life is about to turn upside down. Do you want to join me for my new adventure? Who am I, you ask? That's simple, most people call me Slaughter, but you can call me Nyx. More

About Amber Lynn

I love books. Until recently, I kept to just reading them, but ideas for characters and scenes took control of my mind and made me have to get those ideas down. I have been writing for about a year and have really enjoyed working out the process of taking my ideas and forming new worlds for others to enjoy.

This whole writing thing is still a hobby for me. I sit down on weeknights and weekends and just float over to my other worlds for a while. Other hobbies of mine include: drawing, baking, arts and crafts, motorcycles, hockey, and archery. I like to think I have eclectic tastes where my hobbies are concerned. I love to laugh and try to at least make myself smile once a day. With the crazy thoughts going on in my head that usually isn't hard.

OMG!!!!! I Loved this book!!!!! There were so many places that I couldn't stop laughing!!!! It was such ironic but intense instances that I couldn't help it!! I can really relate to Nyx's character and attitude! I found a couple of spots in the book where certain words maybe needed to be changed but at the same time it didn't make a difference to me! :) I can't say enough about this book! I am starting the second one, hoping that it will be written in the same vein as the first one!! I have nothing but positive things to say about this book and I highly recommend it!!! :)

R2R: Night Calls (Nyx Slaughter #1)

I received this book for free, in exchange for a review.

Just the name only brings terror and untrust to so many paranormal creatures. Nyx Slaughter, the executioner, from the Collective. She was left, as a baby, on their door step and they have trained her into a killing machine, for the greater good. But who's greater good, theirs or everyone else's? She becomes friends with the most unlikely of characters, an age old vampire and what transpires between them is above the board. Then all hell brakes loose and Nyx is finding out about her heritage is a somewhat backwards way.

'Most of my calls are for those two species and most of them are for execution purposes. I get occasional calls to help with other kinds of shifters, demons, witches, and general misbehaving paranormal, but they are rare. People have started to figure out if you have someone killed, you call Nyx.'

F-ing fun read! Reminds me of the Anita Blake series, but so much more light hearted and the sarcasm from Nyx has me laughing out loud. I really am happy that I have the three books to read through, rather than having to wait to have them written. Don't miss out!

I was given a free copy of this book for an honest review.....found it very enjoyable.

Really enjoyed this new series. Author Amber Lynn has created a new world for us to indulge in and enjoy. Night Owl City is full of new paranorms for us to get to know and fall in love with.
The characters are fun and engaging, story is fast paced and easy to follow.
Being the first book in the series - the story of course has not finished and keeps you hanging for the next instalment.

Bring on the 2nd book......

An enjoyable book - which was somewhat different than I thought it would be from the synopsis.

Nyx is a much more likeable character than I thought she would be, or than I expected! I loved Sebby as well :)

This was an interesting twist on the vampire/ werewolf genre and I would certainly recommend it.

My only criticism is that I struggled to feel a great connection with the characters and I did find the language a bit stilted - but that may just be me.

I received this book free for an honest review.

It was a good book, and I was a little surprised by that only because it is a short book. I was definitely drawn in and intrigued and had to know what was going to happen next. The story ended with a cliff hanger, which is awesome since I have book 2 to read, lol. There are so many vampire/werewolf books out right now, that it is interesting to read the authors twist on how they function/interact with each other.

I would recommend this to others!

I was drawn into Nyx's world, she is strong and sometime likeable.
The story gives some background on her so that you will be able to understand her.
Overall a very good read...

This book was not what I had thought it would be from the synopsis, but I was amazed at how drawn into Nyx's world I became. Rather than the tough, callous main character I had expected, I was surprised by a well balanced heroine. I really enjoyed the characters and description in this story. That said, I did have some issues with the pacing of the story (so many events happening, needed to slow down and give a little more details) and some scenes contradicting each other. Overall, a very fun read.
