I have been writing since I was a teenager. I will always remember my first typewriter. An old manual mint green from the 50's that I got at a consignment shop for about $20. It is well worth more than that now, but to me it is priceless. All my dreams and ideas typed out in perfect script letters.
I love reading, it is such an adventure to do so. my favorite authors are Stephen King, Anne Rice, Edgar Allen Poe, William Shakespeare, J.R.R. Tolkien,I credit Robin McKinley and The Hero & the Crown for my idea of woman empowerment.
In my spare time (this is where you say "what? you've got to be joking) Where is this book we're going to get and how fast are you working on its sequel?" more further down) I also enjoy watching movies and playing video games. Give me a little horror, action, and comedy over romance and we're golden, unless you're looking for the bleh factor then you're in for a nauseating ride. I do live long and prosper while adhering to the pulls of the force. I have been waiting for a man in a blue box but have a feeling he won't come visit me until Sherlock makes his 3rd appearance. So maybe I'd be better off exploring the vast web of the Whedonverse. I have a feeling I will survive the zombie apocalypse, but I don't know what I'd do when the vampires take over the world. Would I chose humanity and death or become one of the vampires to only live forever with their dark and evil ways. Survival horror games have given me the strength and practice to overcome at least the first. If I want to immerse myself into a fantasy world RPG's are the best to go but they tend to come far and few these days.If you haven't gathered, I am what most people consider a geek, but I think in a more fun, quirky way.

Rise of a Queen was good, Tessa started from be a human being and becomed a vampire to reach the top of the power of Levé clan.
After the death of Greco she had a empty freeway for hold the kingdom in her hands, and the soft revenge towards the queen Desdemona that killed the men she loved, Greco.
The plot was interesting and also the characters that show the lifestyle of vampires society.

This was the first book I got on smashwords and have since downloaded a few different kinds for lunch hours reads.. The concept for this book is definitely different. It is not chick lit, it's not sparly vampires, it is completely the opposite of what a certain Meyers has made them into.
The main character is a strong willed vampire stuck with duties that start off with more than she can handle. She falls into the role and starts to own it, giving into her vampire nature throughout. Her past is a very important part of her, and part of why she just cannot lose touch of her human side completely. As time goes further she becomes the queen the title suggests. I am really curious to see where all of it goes and am sure some of my much anticipated questions will be answered in the next installment.

If you like vampires and you like politics, then this is a book for you. In this tale where vampires become the superior species, we see the journey of amazing woman who fights with her ability to still feel compassion (a human trait) and her ability to rule with her ferocity (her vampiristic traits). In this story of clashing clans, the human spirit, and the need to keep a species thriving, we are caught up in wars that are both physical and emotional. We empathize with Tessa, while at the same time torn apart by her unique animal ability to throw away lives for nourishment and for her own amusement. We pity her while at the same time feeling a kind of loathing for her role of entitlement amongst both humans and vampires. She is a strong female who is inspiring and intimidating. Riddle weaves great pieces of lore about gods and goddesses in with the plot, which I found to be a really nice touch. Without spoiling the plot for those who have not read it, I will surmise to say that I cannot wait to see what is in store for the Leves and for Tessa. Spoiler alert ahead. I hope to find out more information on some of the other characters such as Isaac and Isabel. I also cannot wait to see what becomes of other characters such as her nephew and niece, Jason and Emma. Will Jason remain true to the vampires and will Emma escape and find her mother? Most importantly, what will become of the baby? Will she grow up only to be killed by both vampire and human or will she grow up to be embraced? I would love to see more description regarding their environments. For instance, I loved reading about the shield wall and the clubs. I know this could change the category the book is in, but I would have loved some more graphic detail on Tessa's intimacy with her lovers. I also would love more background on Greco. This is truly a great start to a series, as I can see there is only one direction to go from here, and that is up. I hope that the plot will thicken, and that more mystery and scheming develops in the next books. Thank you J.S. Riddle for a really nice read.
