About Robert Nicholls

I am a Canadian born Aussie, having emigrated with my wife to North Queensland in 1975. Since then, we've raised a son and have both been working in the state high school system. My areas have been English, History and Geography while hers has been Science. I write because I'm hooked on the music of words. I also sculpt, in wood and stone, because things that can be made with, and held in, the hands are good for the soul.

Sadly, there are few authors today who can turn out such interesting, descriptive, evocative, & humorous phrases.
I like the story's blend of mystery, history, family, & a delicious dollop of magic. I found it engaging & interesting, with characters very worthy of a sequel or two. Mr Nicholls has clearly put significant effort into getting the period facts & feel just right ... well done !!

If you love descriptive wordplay this is the book for you. The author is obviously a master of the language and has a sly sense of humour. An engaging story. Loved it.

A complex plot with an historical basis that makes you want to keep reading. The characters are well developed and interesting. Perhaps the ending is a little too drawn out but otherwise this comes greatly recommended, especially for those keen on historical dramas.
