Kevin Terwilliger lives in relative peace in Cambridge, Oregon in 1958. He feels a little bit worse for the wear after being moved hither and yon due to his father's military background. He isn't safe at his new school, either. There's a proverbial bully there named Ronald Eugene Pfefferman who doesn't seem to him to want to back down with his snide remarks.
This novella is a nostalgic story about bullying, yet it's about friendship bonds, too. Kevin Terwilliger bands together with his friend who's named Connor Billingsley to combat a bully who's named Ronald Eugene Pfefferman.
All the boys either have or are given nicknames that suit them well. Kevin's nickname is "Two Sips". Connor's nickname is "Backwards". Ronald Eugene's nickname is "Four Eyes".
Terwilliger feels like he's been shifted around too often due to his father's military duties. The last thing that he needs is to feel like a punching bag to Pfefferman's verbal jibes.
Read on, and see how Billingsley and he deal with Ronald Eugene. There might be hope for him after all.
