About V.J. Mortimer

Vincent Mortimer is an Irish born author based in Christchurch, New Zealand. Irish culture and mythology has been an important part of his life so when he first started to write he found it made sense to incorporate a healthy dose of celtic mythology into his writing.
Azrael’s Twins is his first foray into the world of children and young adult fiction. Near World – the land in which the series is set – bears a close resemblance to the lands of the South Island of New Zealand. The book was written for the benefit of his two children – the antics of which are the inspiration for many of the adventures in the book.
While he wouldn’t go so far as to describe his work as literature he hopes that readers will find the series a rollicking good yarn. He is currently working on the second book in the Near World series – Azrael’s Twins and the Circle of Stone.
