Before you read this review I'd like you to know that the writer is my father so I may be a bit biased. The book has a complex and extremely clever plot that keeps you on your toes and is superbly thought out. Despite this if you are not adventurous you may stay away as it is not a story set in a particular genre, plus the story takes a while to get into.
It's about four children who travel to a supposedly deserted island and the adventures they have. Meanwhile a space pirate is on the run with his pirate friends and interesting allies. This story contains dinosaurs, jet packs, strange eggs, tales of a mysterious beast, strange men, historical discoveries, powerful crooks, capture and legendary space battles all in 50,000 words! Even better two stories a million light years away genially cross paths. I am still stunned at how my dad could write such a superb story.
If you like this please read 'Magic' or 'Bianca and other contrived stories' they are superb too although I think this is the best.
