Many books of this nature can be light on detail and information - or the opposite, so dense as to be unreadable.
"Sold" is neither of these but, rather, well written and easy to read whilst simultaneously being chock-full of really very good and practical advice.
I have sold my own home twice, and a number of others on behalf of family members. I was not expecting to learn much more than a few handy tips here, but was surprised and pleased to find a mass of extremely useful advice and information that would, in fact, have made my life easier and those sales considerably more straightforward.
I found advice here that matched my own experience plus a great deal more that I wish I had previously known.
The book's twelve chapters range from why to use an Estate Agent and how to choose a good one, through preparing your home to make the most of its appeal and the benefits of an open day, to dealing with tiresome fees, surveys, legalities and solicitors in an effective way that makes the process as painless as possible. These and the other sections are accompanied by plenty of real world examples of situations that did and didn't work out; examples that clearly and convincingly demonstrate why following the author's advice works - and why not following it is quite likely to lead to delays and disappointment.
Included are links to useful websites for research and pricing, checklists to help you be thorough in your planning, 'insider tips' that are sometimes surprising but always valuable, and even well thought out insights into the psychology of selling and presenting your home for sale.
The whole is written with a light humour, using straightforward language and the minimum of jargon. The author's practical, sensible advice is clearly borne of considerable real professional experience, and being able to benefit from this experience simply by reading this book is a boon.
If you want to sell your house for the best price, fast, do consider spending a few hours reading this book first. I wish I had!
