A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Kennel

Rated 4.33/5 based on 3 reviews
My lifelong experience with man’s best friend includes forty years as owner of Canada's largest canine security company. With hundreds of dogs, and hundreds of security officers over the years, there have been myriad humorous events; some hilarious, some bizarre. Now that I’m retired, I find myself recalling and chuckling, so rather than laugh alone, I have documented them here. Enjoy! More

About Bev McQuain

Bev McQuain (a guy with a girl's name) was born in a small town, moved to a big city, then moved into an old schoolhouse away out in the country with his wife and three kids.
Started with a dog when he was one year old, and eventually retired with sixty dogs.
First career as a musician, then a sign painter, then opened his own ad agency where he specialized in major promotional events (often featuring exotic animals).
Never without a dog, he finally built a kennel and opened a dog business that became Canada's largest canine security company.
Now, he does some carving, some cartooning, and is laboring over two books. One about all the funny stuff that has happened, and another horror story about a dog that was possessed by a demon ... or was he?

Very funny book at the start, then it settled down and got more serious but also quite interesting. I enjoyed it and envy the author for having spent his life doing a job he loved - his pleasure in that comes across strongly.

I will say I bought it on the strength of the sample and the rest of the book wasn't as good. I'm still recommending it, and giving it a very solid three stars, but it isn't quite as hilarious as the reviews and the sample would lead you to expect.
