A tense and compelling short story that really excels at establishing mood. It's a character study at heart, exploring the motivations of those who have been driven to the edge. Sometimes, the concise writing works to the story's advantage (leaving the reader imagining what's happened during these people's lives to make them behave as they do), but other times, it feels more like something is missing (the Jermaine character felt underdeveloped with wasted potential, for example). Overall, a fun and intriguing read.

This is pretty good! I enjoyed this. It has a nice pace to it and the characters were decent. I had a lot of fun with the story and the direction it took me.

An intense story full of surprises! I really liked all of the beautiful imagery, especially at the beginning. This would make a great prequel to a novel, would love to see what happens next!

A good story. It has many twists and turns you don't see coming, and you really feel sorry for some characters...right before you learn the truth about them. A fun read during a trip on the bus or while sitting around an airport.
