About Darlene Deluca

I write heartfelt women's fiction and contemporary romance that feels real. Books have always been a part of my life, and reading has always been a favorite pastime – from my childhood bookworm days when I would hide away with Trixie Belden or Laura Ingalls Wilder, to my busy parenting days when I forgo laundry, housecleaning and sleeping to carve out time for my latest book club read. I love curling up with a cup of tea and getting lost in a good story.

My novels are about people and their relationships – what brings them together, what keeps them apart. My intent is to bring to life interesting and ‘real’ characters that you, the reader, can relate to in real-life situations that combine a little fun, plenty of drama (with perhaps a tear or two), and big helpings of friendship, love and self-discovery, and will leave you either cheering or sighing with a satisfied smile as you turn the final page.
And just so you know . . . I like a happy ending.

What would you do if you stumbled upon a secret that could change your family's life forever? How would you handle it? Who would you turn to? Those are the questions that Megan has to deal with in Meetings of Chance by Darlene Deluca all the while dealing with the recent death of her mother.

Megan's life has been turned upside down by the death of her mother, and while trying to get back into a new normal routine she finds out a secret of her mother's that could impact the lives of several people. Tom, moved to Meadowbrook to escape his high profile divorce and didn't expect to be attracted to his new neighbor.

At first, Megan is suspicious of Tom, but she ends up leaning on him for help and finds out he isn't such a bad guy. While their feelings develop, their new relationship is tested by accidents and secrets. Can Megan learn to completely trust Tom and start their new happily ever after?

The only thing that was distracting for me is how Megan became so obsessed over the secret she found out about. Granted, nothing like that has ever happened to me so I don't know how I'd react, but I think she became obsessed over it. However, this was a bonding point for Megan and Tom so in terms of that aspect, I could understand it. Family is very important to me and throughout this book the theme of family love is brought out and I thoroughly enjoyed a book about a family trying to move forward together after a tragedy.

I thought this book was a nice, easy, and quick read. Beware, you will probably need some tissues as there are several parts that had me crying. If you are looking for explicit love scenes, you won't find it in this book (but I was just fine with that)! The author still does a great job of evoking the sexual tension and the feelings between Megan and Tom. You will find yourself rooting for these characters after the first meeting!

I will definitely be reading more from this author!
