Ivy Dreams by Jill Eisnaugle --
Ivy Dreams is a story about passion, determination, relationships, and the love of baseball. Kim Reedeaux is the main character in this story of beating the odds, starting at birth and going all the way to the World Series at the age of 42.
Ivy Dreams tells the story of a woman whose passion for baseball started at an early age. Her father was a radio sportscaster and talked sports with Kim as early in her life as she could remember. Her love of the game and her determination combined with her talents strengthened by her training made her a force that the world of baseball could not ignore. Her journey touched many lives in different ways. She had her supporters, her doubters, a few enemies, and the fans whose hearts she touched.
There is another little girl in this story, no spoilers here, that touched me as a reader. I love how the little girl’s and Kim’s lives crossed paths and their relationship. I can’t say more here, but you’ll know when you read the story.
The story is written in such a way that it reminds me of a baseball game, a lot of action, emotions, and history. The history of baseball is highlighted in the book interwoven throughout the story. Some stats, some history, and a lot of story!
The deepest emotion that I took away after reading Ivy Dreams is passion. Kim’s love of the game and life itself is driven by her passion that she developed from her father as a child. It’s a story about family, love, and life’s lessons, and of course, baseball!
