About Silja Hare

I have three very talented daughters and live in the middle of Wolf Country (Minden, Ontario, just south of Algonquin Park). My literary interests are wide-ranging except for "chick lit"... I don't do "chick lit". Or "coming of age" stories. Actually, if there are no dragons, time rifts, someone shouting "Warp Five, Mister Sulu!", or explosions every five minutes, it's a bit hard to keep my focus.

Given that, it's a good thing I'm a content writer with a usual deadline of 24hrs, eh? ;)

You're so good at description and detail. :)
I could imagine Johnny perfectly in my head and everything he did. The story was pretty mysterious until you got to the end and you realize suddenly what kind of world he's living in.
You should write a second part!!
I kept imagining what that world was like, and all the amazing things that must be set up for the dogs, like gifted dog schools, or gym where they keep them fit and stuff.
Your writing gets sharper every time. The only comment I think I'd have (and keep in mind i'm no writer), is that sometimes the sentences went on a little too long and I would sometimes get distracted by the detail in them.
But that's probably just me.

sharp, sharp, sharp! very apt descriptions, good movement, character descriptions. [although i would have balked at the diamond shrap cheekbones!]

one s missing from ....somewhere. lost the page. damn it.

on the whole i'd still keep fleshing it out: there is so much more than than meets the eye!

go for it!
