The Vullen's Curse is an exceptionally well written novella. As a general rule I tend to stay away from them because I always feel as if it is lacking in description and development, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that this wasn't an issue here at all.

I want to start off with the descriptions. They are beautiful and incredibly in-depth. The physical traits of the characters were fascinating and I spent a great deal of time just sitting with the Nook in my lap with my eyes closed, just imagining what all the characters must look like. Blue, purple, and pink hair? Golden skin covered by a silver cloak. Clear irises surrounding a dark pupil. I absolutely loved this.

There was a surprisingly large amount of character development despite the introductory story being so short. We were introduced to something like 10 characters, and I can honestly say I have a solid grasp on each of their motivations and desires. It's astonishing.

I want to take a minute here and just say this: there is a LOT of potential here. Seriously. I want this fleshed out in a full length novel beginning a series. Just in the span of 50 pages I'm hooked and I want to know more. I want more descriptions. I want more interactions with the characters. This would make a fantastic book and I think it's popularity would grow naturally just because the story is so great.

Update: I forgot to mention that I loved the sketches! They brought so much to the story.

"The Vullens' Curse" by Natasha House was a good fantasy read that was enjoyable and was the first in this series. This fantasy is of a creature named 'Jade' that could actually 'boil your blood.' The characters are so magical that truly take you on some ride through this read. We will see how "King Lowen's wife, Gal'adril, has fallen under the spell of a disease with no cure. He will stop at nothing to restore her, even it that means capturing death deadly creature, the Vullen." From the read will will find out of the Vullens ability to sing a song that will kill you, With these Vullens not being able to leave their village, however until a mother wants to free her daughter and will pay whatever it takes to do so. Get ready for a interesting read. The characters are all simply off the chart...well developed and so captivating...only keeping you on the edge of your seat. I like these name Otsana, Wolfinic, Fressa, Skaka, Sage, Asha, Deilia, Elder Glon, King Lowen, Stelane, 'Cheeks,' Queen Gal'adryl, Beclyn, Nahor, Klour, Natli, and Gusha to name a few. Now,if you have pick up this excellent read, you will be left wondering if Deilia is able to help King Lowen steal a baby Wolfinic which will be coming up in the next series.

If you are a fantasy reader and love 'Seers, Deities, strange blood thirsty creatures' you have come to the right place...for "The Vullens' Curse" would be recommended to you as as excellent read. Very well done to this author Ms. Natasha House. I will be looking forward to the next series.

The author has a magical pencil, I am sure of that, because she masters so well the art of wondrous metaphors. She can skilfully take you on an unexpected emotional tour de force with the greatest of ease, which is rare, if you ask me. She is born to write fantasy...
