About Gordon Magee

My name is Gordon Philip Magee, I am in my mid 50s, married only to Petra who has blessed me with 7 children and by whom we have many grandchildren. I live and work in Sonoma County CA as a Senior Engineering Manager for an equipment design corporation. But it was not always so. Thoroughly lost by age 18 I said yes to the salvation of Jesus, broken completely as a curbside addict by age 20 I understood His calling and began to follow. My first book 'Breaking the Cycle of Slavery to Sin' includes the story of my recovery through His power. My second book 'Seeking God for Daily Living and Destiny' includes the story of what happened over the years as I let the Lord God have His way and write His-Story into my life.

After reading this book I'm more motivated to meet with God EVERYday, not just most days in the week. Who else knows every answer to life's questions than the one who created life!? This book is very deep. It's not a light read but a comprehensive look at how to seek God. 'Seeking God...' covers many necessary topics for growth such as being made in God's image, to the characteristics of a mature Christian, to spiritual gifts and daily waging of war spiritually. I enjoyed it because it helped me to think for myself by asking who, what, where, why & how questions. This book makes clear deeper concepts in scripture that are all backed up with Biblical references. Some of these deeper concepts include; Becoming a Friend of God-with examples of how God is the best kind of friend; patient & kind, slow to anger, forgiving, someone to be trusted. Also, understanding Waging War-God has given us all the armor we need to be successful in the greatest battle of our daily lives, which isn't a physical but spiritual battle.
The author uses personal examples & stories from his own life that let me know he'd experienced what he was writing/passing on. I've enjoyed reading this book slowly (like an extended devotional) which allowed me to really work on one step of connection with God at a time making it a habit to seek Him not only for my day to day living but also for my extended destiny & the purpose He has for me.

This unassuming book caught me by surprise. Given to me by a friend, I thought I would check it out when I found the time. I ended up looking forward to each opportunity I had to sit down and break it open.

A few of the things that surprised me: In a very straight-forward, open style, Magee challenged some long-held assumptions I had about God, his role in my life, and how to approach him. The author uses the New King James Version and printed most of the verses right into the manuscript, and I was surprised at how understandable this version was. I also liked the gentleness and humor that I found sprinkled throughout--it made the author seem approachable and real (even though he is obviously knowledgeable with how he breaks down some Greek words for you). Plus, I loved the extras he added to the end of the book--very practical helps on some very needed topics AND a whole section of heartfelt poems written during the author's own continuous journey of seeking God.

I've already recommended it to a close friend, and if you're at all thinking about whether or not it's worth your time: it is.
