About Adrian Beckingham

Adrian Beckingham, aka The Man from Story Mountain, has been a full time professional storyteller for 20 years. Prior to this he was a national co-ordinator for Greenpeace Australia, and all his stories explore intimately our relationship as human beings with the earth. Adrian is also the founding chairman of a charity called The Siddhartha Foundation, which rents a three storey apartment block in Kathmandu, Nepal. There nearly 150 children, mostly Tibetan orphans, are given a home, schooling, and care.

In the year 2000 Adrian won the Help The Aged Millennium Award for his storytelling projects bridging the generation gap between youth and the elderly in small towns. Advertised as ‘One In A Million’ only one Millennium Award was given for 1 out of every 1 million people resident in the UK, and is testimony to the value Adrian brings to individuals, organisations, and communities!

Exquisitely written book. This is bursting with imagination and a strong connection to the oral tradition of storytelling.Adrian weaves such beautiful tales from the Earth from an Indigenous perspective.Very heart centred and teaches us the importance of getting back to these tales of our ancestors, the tribal people's.This wins my heart, imagination and paints such powerful and beautiful pictures.I have story told from this book time and time again and the audience has been enraptured. My personal favourite is the story of Brigit Ker, a story I believe written and researched by Adrian. What a great accomplishment this book truly is Adrian.I recommend it highly on every level.Definitely a 5 star rating!

This is a wonderful book, beautifully written, & it is so special that the stories are based on real myths & legends. A book to read out loud, it reminds one of the times when there was no TV & families would read to each other for entertainment. Get it! Five stars...
