About the Series: Spacer Series
Follow the adventures and career of Xiu-Li "Mariposa" Chen from crewper to Captain as she and other humans venture forth into a sixty light year bubble of local space that will become the Human Sphere, once humans join the mysterious Assembly Of Sentients. Xiu-Li Chen and several friends and colleagues are instrumental to many of the pivotal events along the way, and must deal with all of the complex results afterward. She is one of only two survivors of the first actual "alien encounter" with another sentient intelligent species - and eventually she must not only negotiate with them, she becomes embroiled in their internal politics, along with her first officer Commander Ecurba, who has several of his own adventures as well.

Review by: Stan Adelman on May 03, 2015 :
While usually not a fan of short stories, I really enjoyed this set because each of the stories is related to the spacer series that I have thoroughly enjoyed. I all means read the first eight books in the series before you read this series of short stories. Stories will make much more sense by reading them in order.
