Chrysalis is a very good book. I liked the story line; it was fresh and the characters were engaging. At first I felt that the author was trying a bit too hard to distance herself from the poorly written crap that has infiltrated the YA paranormal genre; this in no way detracted from the story or the characters. However, it was enough for me to deduct 1/2 star ~ I give the book 4 1/2 stars. Davidson is a wordsmith and overall writes well.

It is a good first book. I look forward to the rest of the series.

I must confess that I am not in the YA demographic ~ I qualify for senior coffee at McDonalds.
