About Glenn Blackshear

Glenn Blackshear is a 30+ year veteran of the Computer Science industry, with a B.S. in Information Systems from the University of Texas and a PhD from the proverbial School of Hard Knocks. In the early 2000s, he lost a lifetime of work, including multiple unpublished novels and dozens of short stories, songs, and poems, having placed too much faith in technology. Wounds healed. scars faded, and lessons learned, now he is compelled to write or die trying.

Quick, quaint read - but dark, too, where humour often disguises pain.

How to classify a story? I have that trouble often. This would have done just as well in children's literature, given the object lesson and life preparation potential. It's good for 'family' and even, obliquely, romance. Throw in some sci-fi flavored anthropomorphism while you're at it and here it is...the beloved mutt that has something for everyone. Oops, add mystery genre, sort of. The story didn't let on the specific ID of the machinery, but the cover was the spoiler. Wouldn't this one give a librarian nightmares on where in the shelves to put it.

A really sweet little short story. It made me smile, and made me care for a barbeque grill. I think that's an impressive achievement.
