This was a very engrossing, almost addictive read. I scoured through it pretty relentlessly until finished, and I found it quite satisfying. I enjoyed the approachable yet genuine, nuanced characterizations, both of the alien life forms - who really were different from one another in far more than merely appearance - and of the human viewpoint characters. It was a lot of fun to see a character in such a central role who was overcoming what so many consider a completely debilitating handicap, and yet doing what no other could do because of that very challenge. I really had fun with this.
