About A.L. Kessler

A.L. Kessler is an up and coming author, with her first short story, Keeper, published in the anthology Evernight Vol. II. Since she was a teenager she's loved weaving stories and spinning tales. When she's not at the beck-and-call of the Lord and Lady of the House, two black cats by the names of Jynx and Sophie, playing with her daughter, or killing creepers and mining all the things with her husband of 4 years, she's either reading, participating in NaNoWriMo, or writing in her Blog Writing Rambles.

A paranormal investigator has to find a panther, assumed dead, who seems to be back killing people. The link is the panther's brother Josh, who Mae has been dreaming about. Can she find the panther and find out what is really happening?

Although I have given this book two stars, it was actually a decent read. It was well written and put together, the plot and characters seemed interesting. I just didn't like the ending much. Would give it 2.5 stars probably. The follow up book in the series sounds interesting but I haven't decided whether or not to read it yet.

I'm really excited to read the rest of this series based on what I read in this awesome short story! The characters are really great and I had no trouble relating to them. I can't wait to find out more about Mae, Kass and Lucius, I'm deffinately hooked!

I love this story and it got me drooling for more. You get a sense of setting and characters early and Amy's words flowed through my mind like a movie. That's how good this short story is! This is my first encounter with Amy's work so I'm dying to get my hands on her other works asap!

I loved this short story. Bottom line it is fun. The characters are engaging and certainly not dull or boring. Even though this is a short story and a quick read it keeps your attention and holds it tight. This is a prequel and from the background already given here in The Touch of Night this world that A.L. Kessler has created is rich with danger and intrigue. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the Dark War Chronicles and getting to know these characters more. Especially the villain.
