The book covers about 20 characters, some overlapping, some just touching on each other's lives, and to be honest I got confused and gave up on trying to remember who fitted where. It's like a soap (would make a riveting soap, considering the subject matter) and I've heard a lot of the characters are based on people in this giant industry. As it was, I was reading on the train, page by page, journey by journey. I couldn't tell you the story (apart from a few characters who were dominant) but then most of us can switch on a soap and enjoy an episode without having to know the whole story. My eyebrows shot up quite a few times!

This tale mixes food politics and a timely sideswipe at modern marketing culture; it's a very modern blend which will appeal to a reader who enjoys a rapidly-switching view point; the story unfolds in a series of telling vignettes that left me sometimes dizzy. The book flashes through breathless episodes which left me chuckling and horrified in equal measure. Read this to get a taste of the raw vegan critique of heartless [and unhealthy] capitalism, spiced with humour and sex.
