Rory, My Brother

Rated 5.00/5 based on 1 reviews
It’s hard to live with some people, and harder to live without them. This story is based on a real family I meet some years ago. Their plight touched me, not least of all that of the older brother. Because the family tried to protect him, he seemed farthest removed from the unfolding tragedy. But there was no protecting him from the fact that sometimes, unfortunately, love hurts.

About Kate Walker

Hi, I'm Kate Walker.

I live in Australia and I've been writing since 1977, and I love it. Writing is the only thing I want to do when I get up in the morning. I'd write all day long if I could. Which is just as well, because I'm one of the slowest writers on the planet. It takes me an age to write anything. I do dozens of drafts. Even a short story can take me years to complete.

Because of the vast differences in what I write – Children’s Books, YA & Adult stories – I've posted my work on separate web pages. Please see: - & -

I also taught Creative Writing for 20+ years and I’ve just published two booklets of exercises that cover the creative approach I developed. Because my first classes were with students with learning difficulties, I had to find a whole new way of teaching writing … and I did. Please see:

There's an accomplished Romance writer of the same name – Kate Walker. She’s from the UK and publishes with Mills & Boon and Harlequin. If you’ve come to this page looking for her, you’ll find her home page at: Greetings, Kate.

When it comes to discovering a character through their words, actions and thoughts, it's hard to beat Kate Walker. She has mastered the art of saying so much in so few words. This short story is only 5 pages long but we see a lifetime of the relationship between 2 brothers. Kate's writing is gutsy, hard-hitting and honest, revealing what people really do think and feel even when they tell no-one else what is in their hearts. This is awesome writing. Loved it!
