About Karem Barratt

Karem has been writing since age eight, when she wrote her first story about a what some may call a tropical version of Heidi.Since then she has filled a few dozens of notebooks with wacky, weird, dark, happy, sad, spiritual, down-to-earth stories, poems, guides, essays and reflections. Fortunately for the trees, she's now writing them on her PC.

For a time Karem thought about reaching enlightment, moving to India and finding a Guru -but then she realized that a nice experimental cooking session could be as spiritual as three hours of meditation and decided to find the Divine down in the everyday, and not on the top of the mountain. She did, however, trained as a spiritual councillor/coach and Interfaith Minister as a practical way to channel her desire to serve. Before that she studied and worked in Fashion Merchandising; Translation; ESL teaching in her native Venezuela (with a Tarot business on the side); got a Humanities BA in the in the UK; opened several Spanish clubs for kids; and has had a few gigs as a ghost-writer.

Nowadays Karem lives in England with her extremely patient husband, cheeky eight-year-old daughter and two grumpy guinea pigs and has decided to take out all those notebooks from the dusty boxes and send them out into the world.

Review by: Barbara Morrone-Sanchez on June 24, 2013 :
The Four Charms was a beautifully well written story that truly shows what it is to be young and having to grow up knowing what is expected and the doubts that one has about whether or not it's possible. As readers follow young Rebecca they learn that nothing is truly impossible and anyone can be brave or wise with a little faith, a little luck, some courage and a whole lot of love. A wonderful story for readers of all ages.
