A recent transplant to Seattle from New York via Miami. Claire became legally blind due to a rare optic stroke in August 2005 and graduated from Guide Dogs for the Blind in July 2007. She and her team mate, DaVida, a beautiful yellow lab speaks to public audiences and shows how a guide dog helps in her life.
Claire has a strong and varied background in public speaking and business. After earning her Master's degree, she studied for a Doctorate in Counseling. But, business lured her and she started a needlepoint design shop. Claire earned her living as an artist for the next 10 years and was featured in the Marshall Field Christmas Catalog. Next, she started and operated an accounting firm that lasted for 26 years and ended the day she lost her sight. Her other main business, which lasted for 18 years, was as a professional association administrator for various alumni clubs and associations. The non-profits she administered included the Wharton School Club of South Florida, the Harvard Club, the All Ivy League of South Florida, the Miami Society of Financial Analysts, and many other associations.
In her leisure time, Claire is active in her community. She was Recognized by President Carter for Community Service, was featured in Who's Who of American Women annual reference 1980 – 1992, and recently in Who’s Who in America 2007. She was a Delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business, was a member of Phi Delta Epsilon, the National Journalism Honorary Fraternity and Epsilon Tau Lambda, Adult Scholastic Honorary Fraternity.
Claire has authored business texts for alternative medicine practitioners and has written a small business management text, which is in its second printing. She served as former President of Miami Mensa, and also of Mensa of Western Washington. Today she is a Toastmaster, Rotarian, creative writing teacher, life coach, motivational public speaker, and an inspiration for all who meet her.
