By their own admission Mormon are a "peculiar people" and this book is a fascinatingly coherent, respectful and articulate look into one of the many "peculiar" aspects of this culture. The author's view is a refreshingly frank message of a self-determined judgment a it pertains to appropriate content. His arguments flow very well and are supported with excellent research. The nature of a well-balanced film demands a certain level of polarization. In order to truly communicate beauty, love and goodness there must be a measure of ugly bitterness and evil. Bravo.

The quality of this book is in the research. Great quotes from well-respected LDS leaders both in the church and in the film community. The author's thesis is well supported through out the paper.

Standing Ovation. I agree wholeheartedly with this argument. I know that in my own life I have seen several rated R movies that I definitely was uplifted by. Of course, I don't rush off to see every rated R movie, but I use my own judgement to determine what kind of material is within the film and whether it is worthwhile. I think it is very narrow minded of people to judge a film so quickly on a rating. Love the writing.
