BEGINNINGS: Into the Unknown

Beginning with a frightening steamboat trip up the Missouri, BEGINNINGS depicts how weather played such an important role in the every day lives of those settlers. Experience a "star shower," the loss of a loved one, the Great Flood of 1844, both the Mexican-American War and pre-Civil War, and not one, but two cholera epidemics, to name a few of the hardships early settlers faced. About D.L. Rogers

Diane was born on the Jersey Shore and spent much of her youth on the beach, but for the past 20+ years has lived in the Kansas City area. She currently lives south of Kansas City with her husband, four horses and multiplying cats. She has two grown children and two grandchildren.

Diane has always loved the Old West and the history of the Civil War. Her favorite movie is "Dances with Wolves," which was an inspiration for the first book in her WHITE OAKS SERIES.

Having parents from the North and South, and a cousin whose parents were opposite, they coined the moniker "Yebels" for each other as kids, imagining themselves 150 years ago during a war in which their families might have been on different sides.

As a kid, Diane played Cowboys and Indians more than she did Barbies, and it shows in what she writes--stories of the struggles of common people and what made this country great. As a senior in high school she had the option of taking study hall or World History. She took World History--and she'll never forget it or the lessons she learned.

When Diane’s not pursuing her career as an author by either writing or marketing, she’s off trail riding with her horses and friends, reading a good book, spending time with her family or curled up in front of the television enjoying old movies (mostly westerns).

Diane hopes to inspire young people with her books and stir adults to discover things they might never have learned, or have forgotten. With tales of the Wild West, the Civil War, and the Indian Wars, history comes alive with each page turned. Become part of that history, live it, learn it, and love it as Diane does.
