I love a good, emotion-packed romance and it seems I have run into a slew of them lately. Maybe instead of rating books with stars, I should start rating them with tissue boxes because let me tell you, this is at least a 5 Tissue Boxes Book!
In a nutshell, Clare is our spectacular single mom heroine. Mom to Maggie, her first husband Ethan, died of (what else?) cancer. He wanted her to go on with her life and prepared her as best he could, complete with a letter in a sealed envelope for "When You're Ready". *light bulb moment* Our hero is none other than player and ladies man, ER Doc Logan. They meet in side ER after Maggie takes a fall in ballet with feelings that alarm Logan. They meet again shortly after that and, well, the romance is on. I won't go into further detail but suffice it to say, after this point is where the tissues come in. ;)
Ms. Berg really did a tremendous job of creating characters that seemed real and like people you could relate to. She made them frustrating, silly, frazzled, loving, and kind. She paced the book well, keeping some of the story hidden until the reader is ready to see it. It was an emotional roller coaster of the highest caliber, a first class contemporary romance. I cannot remember the last time I read a book like it.
It's humorous...
"Being a gentleman is highly overrated."
Hot...
"Clare, you have noticed I'm a guy, right? Because if not, I can pull this car over right now and make that abundantly clear."
Tender and steamy...
"I just want you to remember it. All of it. In vivid, technicolor clarity. And that can only be achieved if you're sober. When you and I come together for the first time, I want you to remember every touch," I ran my hand up her arm and down her back, causing her to shiver. "Every moan."
And above all, had a Forever-type of Love...
"I wanted you to know, because you are the only woman I've ever wanted to share my bed with, or bring home. Clare, you are my home."
You absolutely do not want to miss this book!
