Reviews of Beyond The Reef by Bryan Knower

Tense ocean thriller. A writer, wanting to research deep sea diving in the Dominican Republic for his latest novel, accompanies a young fisherman beyond the reef. The hero soon finds himself immersed (literally) in a tense psychological battle not only with the ocean but with his own past and fears. The descriptions of the sea and the reef are fantastic and the fear of the hero is very real.

Bryan Knower has a way of capturing your imagination, through his writing. His story lines are dynamic with a promise that something very interesting is just around the corner, which in turn makes compulsive reading. "Beyond the reef" created that anticipation of something dramatic developing along the way, and as always there is just that ending that says there should be a continuation of this story.

A great read, evocative with a splash of terror thrown in too, especially the terror was well written, capturing the mind's capacity to create monsters given a few arbitrary elements and emotions to play with.

Highly recommended reading.
