About Wayne Hicks

Well, they tell me I need to say a bit about myself, here, so here goes!

I was born in St. Louis in 1955, and grew up in a small town in Southern Illinois. There, the same imagination that makes me a talented writer today often got me into trouble. Thankfully, I survived, and some of my early adventures have helped to shape my life and, and now my work.

Over the years, I've held a number of jobs; I've been in law enforcement, sales, advertising, and auto repair, and served as a banker, reporter, radio talk show host, music producer, song writer, theatrical, movie and video producer, truck driver, taxi driver...well, you get the picture, right?

I'd written a number of short stories, poems and other things over the years, but I'd never felt I had time to write a novel. Well, all of a sudden I found myself handicapped, and had lots of time, so one day I sat down and started writing! And guess what? I found out what I should have been doing all along. I think that's the real secret to happiness... find out what you love to do, and do it, even if it takes you your whole life!

But writing isn't all I'm about. My experiences in the entertainment industry have left me with a love for movies, so my wife Kathy and I plan to produce Independent movies of my books for Internet broadcast.

Check out our Production Company at http://magicmirrormovies.com. And if you've ever dreamed of being in movies...well, there's a lot of undiscovered talent out there, so we'll be looking for new faces to cast as these characters we love so much.

You never know. Could be your big break, eh?

PROMISE OF MAGIC THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MIRROR

As I started reading this awesome book I noticed that it was a lot like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs just an adult version (or teen version). As I got further down the page and read more and more it became clear that this was not really about Snow White but more on the lines of a warm fuzzy kinda story.

It starts off in a school with three friends talking in sign language. They were the best of friends and it follows them to the little shop that they always buy soda from and then to home. Where is home you ask? Are these young people brother and sisters? Well that my friend you will have to read the book to get the answer to those questions.

So as the day goes on and these three ”friends” start to go to the room to do homework, the lady in the office calls on one of them and asks them to come in to the office. As she walks into the office she notices a woman of about 40 or so sitting on the couch. She is introduced as Penelope Sutton. Now who is this woman you ask? Read the book.

This book is so awesome and so much fun to read. I think I will now go back and reread the book.Wayne Hicks did an awesome job . He keeps you on the edge of your set and wanting more. A must read for all ages.

Typically I am not one to read stories such as Promise of Magic: The Other Side of the Mirror, however this story caught me from the beginning and I was so hooked and so mesmerized by the mystical, magical journey that the author took me on, I had to continue.
I feel like one of the things that captured and held my interest was how you go from a story like I have never read about before of Snow White, the seven dwarfs and the witch, to more modern times with a girl named Precious or PJ as she was called.
You will read about the many exciting adventures that PJ and her friends go on and how PJ deals with the many surprises that come her way. Oh, the adventures are many as well as the surprises!
You then switch back to the time of King Arthur and Camelot and read about more adventures involving PJ. You then come back to modern times and continue to follow PJ and her friends. The way the author, Wayne Hicks tells the story, I found myself getting lost in the fantasy, I even found myself thinking about what it would be like to be PJ!
I got so caught up in the gripping tale while I was reading, I found myself wanting to hurry and read it so that I could see what happens next. This is the kind of story that I call a “sitting on the edge of my seat” type of story. I am so looking forward to reading the other seven books in this series.
There is also a life lesson that we all can instill in our lives that is revealed in the story.

Promise of Magic: The Other Side of the Mirror is one of the best books I have ever read! It starts out going in one direction and just about the time you think you know what's going to happen next, the story takes an interesting twist. It starts out as being what you might think is going to be your typical fairy tale book but in fact it's ANYTHING BUT your typical fairy tale book!! That's one reason I liked it so much! It isn't a book that is predictable! I like a book that keeps you guessing and you never know what's going to happen next.

With each new chapter, this book becomes more and more interesting! I especially like the ending to this first book, it will absolutely blow your mind!!! I am so glad that Mr. Hicks has made this book into a series and I can't wait to read the next book in this Amazing series! I believe this series of books could and should ultimately be made into a Movie!

I highly recommend this book to EVERYONE, even to those of you who don't like to read. I'm not a really huge fan of reading but, after reading the first book in this series: The Other Side of the Mirror I have to admit, I'm hooked. This truly is a phenomenal book, and I will be committing myself to read the entire series! I give this book a 10 Star Rating!!

I enjoy reading books of all kinds and randomly choose a book to read. My latest read is by Wayne Hicks, it is called Promise of Magic: The other side of the mirror. This book really opens up your imagination and reminds you of so many things that you already know but with a more interesting and adult twist. It may even make you question a few things that you already believe even though the book is completely fiction it honestly made me go hmmmm….
To enjoy this book you have to have an open mind and be able to switch from our present day world to worlds that we only hear about in school through literature. You have to be open to witchery, magic, and all things good and evil. I like how the book includes the fairy tales, legends, and Bible lessons that we have learned to make this story really pop.
The beginning of the book will sound a lot like a well know children’s fairy tale but you will quickly realize it is not the fairy tale that we read to our children at night and certainly doesn’t hold the same ending. I honestly enjoyed this version of the story better because it was more adult. I was easily able to place myself inside the book to watch the events unfold before my eyes, this is how I like to read, I love to be so into the book that I get lost.
The main character in this story can feel the life she has always known is about to change in a big way but has no idea exactly what destiny has in store for her. The people that she has to trust with her life and all the new changes do not seem real to her and make her question if she is dreaming of these new worlds and objects and people that she had only heard of in stories. This is where your imagination is taken for a ride and you have to be open to new things and forget what you already know. As a young girl she has been given a great responsibility and has so much to learn to take on what may seem like the weight of the world that has been placed on her shoulders. Will she accept a challenge that will be presented to her? If she decides to accept will she be successful in her quest or will she fail? Then there is always the choice to deny the challenge, but then where does that leave everyone else who has been awaiting her arrival?

Promise of Magic: The Other Side of the Mirror….The book is Enchanting, Mystical & Magical, bringing you into a world filled with surprises and starts with just a hint of the tale of “Snow White”.

The author Wayne Hicks tells the tale of Snow White, the Dwarfs & the Witch, in a way that I had never read or heard before and found it to be enticing and could not wait to read more chapters to see where this story would take me.

It’s starts in the Snow White era, then we go to the future to where a young 14 yr old orphaned girl…Promise also known as PJ, lives in an orphanage. She never in her wildest dreams thought she would ever meet a long lost Aunt who would give her a true home. But, who was this aunt? PJ had no idea what was in store for her, nor did her aunt know what was in store for herself.

I found myself drawn to PJ as I did not know any of my own family, and knew just how it felt to feel alone. I was happy that she had 2 best friends, Amy & Jason to help her through what was to come. PJ unaware that she was the prophesied one…the Challenger and she along with her friends by her side would be embarking into a mystical & magical land she didn’t know existed. Will she believe in herself to do what she has to in order to defeat the evil? Can she truly be the only one that can save the wonderful world of magic?

I can not wait to read the next book about the adventures that PJ will have, this story line brings you into a fantasy world that is full of twist & turns to keep you on the edge of your seat. This is a definite must read book!

I recently read Promise of
Magic:The other Side of the Mirror.Im new to
reading fantasy type novels, and let me say that
if all the tales of war, witchery, magic, and God
were as good as this, i'd be reading a lot more.
Hicks pro efficiently jumps between styles of
dialect ranging  from 1500 years ago to today. He
expertly includes many amazing characters,
starting with PJ. Wow! I love this girl. She's
funny, brave, grown up, and so man y more admiral
things. Then there's King Author, Merlin,Snow
White, Fairies, and elves too! Cant wait to read
the other books In this series. I recommend it to
all younger and older adults alike! This book gave
magic a new meaning for me. A definite re-read!

I enjoyed reading this
book. If your looking for a book with a lot of
detail to get your imagination going this is the
book to read. This book is about a young girl that
went from having nothing to having
everything...but she would soon find out the
importance of why this had happened to her, her
purpose in life. She would learn magic, she would
also learn that fairies and elves are real. She
gets to go go back in time and experience time
when magic first began. The weight of the world
was in her hands now, she had to help the world
and her new friends.

I liked this book it's kind of a new version of Snow White... It starts out at the orphan home with a young girl named Promise "PJ" along with two of her friends Amy and Jason and then goes into PJ being adopted by her Aunt Penny who actually isn't her aunt after all shes a witch. PJ along with Amy and Jason are very excited to go to PJ's aunt Penny's house when they arrive because the building they see is after all the actual house "a masion at that". This book is a rags to riches tale but with an evil agenda... If you like Snow White you will defently like this book...
