This book starts the Realm Keepers series. It's a short episode that mostly deals with introducing the characters and the situation.

Episode one starts with a lot of exposition, so you have to be patient. Once it gets to the action, however, that patience is more than rewarded with a cracking read.

Since this is the first episode, I'd expect that the next episodes will have more action. This book has a lot of groundwork to lay and as such can be slow near the start.

From this episode, at least, this book would be suitable for anyone over the age of 10, although obviously I don't know if the rest of the series is appropriate for that age.

Read if you like the Narnia books, as this has quite a similar feel.
