About Carlton Delfeld

Carl began his career with First Bank Boston’s multinational banking group in London and was executive director for the bank’s Seoul and Tokyo branches. He then became Vice President and director of Asia with Robert W. Baird & Company advising the hedge fund Tiger Management and institutional clients in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Sydney.

After managing a campaign for the Wisconsin State legislature and serving in George H.W. Bush’s Wisconsin campaign, Carl moved to Washington as an advisor to the U.S. Senate Finance Committee on international trade and investment issues. After serving as a counselor to the U.S. Treasury, Carl was appointed represent America on the executive board at the Asian Development Bank in Manila.

Carl was co-founder and CFO of Honolulu-based Pacifica Group and served on the U.S. National Committee on Pacific Economic Cooperation. He is a columnist with Forbes Asia, CEO of Asia & emerging markets investment research firm Chartwell Partners, and is an advisor to Asia Frontier Capital and Leopard Capital.

Carl earned a BA in international economics and oriental studies from the University of Wisconsin and was an exchange student at Sophia University in Tokyo. Carl is a graduate of The Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, Tufts University, and received a Japanese Government Fellowship for study at Keio University.

While studying in Tokyo, Carl was on the U.S. Embassy basketball team, joined the Sophia University golf team, and moonlighted as a cub reporter for the Economist.
