A native of Brixham in Devon, England, Richard left in his teens and travelled the world in the Merchant Navy.
Coming ashore, he flirted with various jobs, including Dockmaster, Insurance Surveyor and Port Control Officer, finally becoming a Thames Pilot more than twenty years ago.
He recently realised his dream and returned to live in Brixham, since when he has taken up Food Writing and Blogging.
His first novel was the Sci-fi adventure, Freefall, followed by a foray into Steampunk with The Rocks of Aserol, Part One of which is now available, with Part Two following in 2014.

Promising, but flawed.
The plot was interesting and well developed. This is obviously meant to be the first in a series, though the book does reach a satisfactory end. However,
The protagonist was poorly developed. We learn almost nothing about him for the entire book. It is so bad that he could be completely replaced and not impact the story.
The planet descriptions were far too detailed and slowed down the story.
I won't be buying any other books in this series.
