College dropout Reggie is flat broke and far from home when he takes a job at a pizza parlor in Snowflake, South Carolina. Valentine’s Day at the pizza place is slow, so his new boss leaves him to run the place for the night — his first night on the job. Reggie does have experience, but that’s a very trusting boss! Or a desperate one who hasn’t had Valentine’s Day off in a dozen years.

Reggie’s pretty bored until he notices Tori in her tattoo parlor, also alone on a slow night. They end up sharing a pizza and spending the evening together, talking and getting to know each other. I really liked their “date” and the conversation. Reggie’s the main character but I actually feel like I know Tori better because she takes the time to delve into her backstory and how she ended up in Snowflake. I don’t even know why Reggie dropped out of college, which seems like a pretty significant event in his life.
