The USC Latino Alumni Association (LAA) is one of the nation’s leading Latino alumni organizations, devoted to the academic advancement and development of Latino students attending USC. The association is made up of USC students, alumni and friends working together to provide support, leadership training, service opportunities and networking.
Our primary mission is to award tuition-assistance scholarships to outstanding undergraduate and graduate students who have shown a commitment to the Latino community. We award some 200 scholarships each academic year, and have awarded more than 7,500 scholarships since our founding.
The association is a legacy of the USC Mexican American Alumni Association, which was founded in 1973. Our name was changed in 2011 to better reflect the broad reach of the association and commitment to all Latino students at the university.
We are governed by a Board of Directors that advises the association on policies and procedures to further our mission and fulfill our goals.
We hold a number of annual fundraising events, offering opportunities for our alumni to reconnect with one another and to meet current scholars. Funds raised go towards scholarships and an ever growing endowment fund currently at $5 million, which is carefully managed to ensure that we will be able to provide scholarships to deserving students for generations to come.
