The Octopus Hook Murders

Rated 5.00/5 based on 2 reviews
Two kidnappings draw ex-profiler Gus Bolderjack from early retirement, where he's late to discover he’s the target of two gruesome serial killers. If that’s not bad enough, he finds himself in a universe ruled by political ambition and double-dealing characters, including those he’s trying to help. Treachery, criminal psychology, and tabloid journalism fuel this adrenalin-pumping story to the end. More

Hartley did it again. This one goes straight into action and keeps the pace to the end. More important, the serial killers are so merciless, inventive, and real that I can't get them out of my head. I hope to heck nobody like them lives on my side of earth. I'm impressed that the main character, Gus Bolderjack, isn't a superhero but is a smart and tough guy who screws up just like the rest of us. Hope to see him in more novels. FBI agent Mattie Hendrix, too.

I haven't read a story this scary since The Silence of the Lambs. Extremely well written.
